Qualifying ended at noon on Friday, June18, but there is a possibility not all the qualified candidates have posted. The "unofficial list" reveals no real surprises. At noon on Friday, April 30, the official time for qualifying as a candidate for federal office ended. Of course, the big news was yesterday when Charlie Crist announced he would not run for U. S. With a majority of the votes counted and unofficially tallied, former House Speaker John Thrasher been declared the winner of the State Senate District 8 race. As of 9:30 pm tonight, Thrasher received approximately 39.50 percent of the vote, while Dan Quiggle received 26.50 percent, Art Graham received 17.1 percent and Stan Jordan received 16.8 percent. John Thrasher is about to take the stage to speak to supporters, volunteers and campaign staffers at his victory party in Jacksonville. Though we aren't sure if the concession call has been made, it seems that the victory is all but official. The victory party is cranking away here in Jacksonville, the mood is high, though we don't have official word yet.
