Today, nearly 400 members of the Florida Transportation Builder's Association gathered at the capital to thank the Senate for protecting the State Transportation Trust Fund and urge the House to do the same. The House is proposing a "raid" of $460 million in gas tax money from the trust fund.
The transportation construction industry is the backbone of the Florida economy. Consider that every item in your home and office was transported by truck, train or plane. Employees rely on the state's roadways and highways to get to and from work everyday. International markets rely on our seaports and ariports.
Speaking in support of protecting as well as increasing funding were Senator Jeff Atwater, Representative Greg Evers, FBT President Doug Callaway and Gabe Sheheane of the Florida Chamber of Commerce.
